Following
the DVD version, Eagle Vision has issued Korn
– Live At Montreux 2004 in the Blu-ray format and though it still has some
minor issues, it far outperforms the DVD with far better audio and is now one
of the leading Rock Blu-ray releases.

The 1080i
1.78 X 1 digital High Definition image is softer than I would have liked,
though I expected that for an interlaced
recording, but it is still better than the disappointing anamorphically
enhanced 1.78 X 1 image from the DVD, which was a disappointment for the
format. Color is the other clear victor
here, saving the playback from its limits and the shoot in general is not
bad. As for sound, the regular DTS is
replaced by DTS HD (MA) Master Audio Lossless, which is the best of the three
options here. Dolby TrueHD 5.1 replaced
the regular Dolby Digital 5.1 mix and the Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo is replaced
by PCM 16/48 2.0 Stereo, so this is an across the board upgrade like nothing we
have seen to date.
The 5.1
mixes still display the particular problem all the mixes do that the singing is
not full or direct in the mix.
Especially in the 5.1 versions, the voice sounds spread out across the
three speakers instead of having a direct center(-ish) location as you would
usually have in such mixes. Intended or
not, it is not a defect, but maybe not a good choice, but it is not as
obnoxious here and the DTS MA is just dynamic enough to get its letter
grade. Fans will be happier with this
version too.
