Offering
an interesting variant of their Ultimate
Dinosaur Collection, BBC Home Video has released Prehistoric Earth – A Natural History as a sister set with some
overlap in the installments Walking With
Dinosaurs and Allosaurus. You can read about my coverage at this link:

Since
this new set has Before The Dinosaurs,
Walking With Prehistoric Beasts and Walking With Cavemen in place of Walking With Monsters and Chased By Dinosaurs, the overlap makes
at least some sense, but maybe they should have just made one Megaset, unless
it already happened and was pulled or are planning it. So why twice the DVDs?
Each show
has a DVD to itself, plus there is a making of Walking With Prehistoric Beasts by itself and the other discs have more
extras like more making ofs, stills, storyboards, interviews, facts texts and
even animatics. The picture and sound
quality are the same, but the real improvement here is the extras, which were
lame and in short supply on the other set.
I also like the way the DVDs are here in a book-like slide case in thin
DigiPak pages. I just wish the shows
were more involving and not so dated-looking.
