Actor-turned-director
Daniel Faraldo took his play How Did It
Feel…? (2004) and turned it into a feature with mixed results. He is lucky to have landed Blair Underwood,
Lucinda Claire and Natasha Gregson Wagner in the challenging story of an
incestual past the two sisters share an complicate their lives further when one
(Wagner) comes to stay with the other and her husband.
Of
course, they are sick and toxic, so some of this is predictable in that it
cannot help put itself into a sense of cliché and though the actors give it
their best, the ideas and serious issues never find resonance and the big
statement never comes through. Neither
does any other sense of realism or naturalism in this whole thing, as it trips
up on the journey from stage to screen.
At least it is ambitious about a serious subject without degrading it or
its audience.
The full
screen 1.33 X 1 image is a poor, botched version of what is obviously a 1.78 X
1 frame and is fuzzy throughout. The
Dolby Digital 2.0 sound is barely stereo and may be a generation or two
down. The only extra is a behind the
scenes featurette.
