Finish Line (Genius/RHI DVD)
Picture: C+ Sound: C+ Extras: D Feature: D
RHI is at
it again trying to make another speeding car flick, but once again, it is for
TV for the most part and lame almost in its entirety. This time, Director Gerry Lively gets to
accept responsibility for the mess they call Finish Line, a silly, weak 2007 mess with a stock car racer (Samuel
Page) getting involved with a shady figure (Scott Baio) who is involved with
illegal arms and anything else illegal.
Unfortunately,
there is no law against making another bad car-based wreck that tries
desperately to be hip and has the excitement of a broken hip. Baio is out of his element, the character
development is zero-to-zero in record time and even the cars get less screen
time than they should, yet seem more three-dimensional than anything else. Maybe the title is a challenge to try and
finish this before falling asleep, but it is a big joke with zero laughs.
The
anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is color limited, depth problematic and
detail is worst of all, but this is clean in the phoniest way and flat all
around. The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo has
no surrounds and is competent as best in its recoding and mix. There are no extras.
