Ween – The Friends EP (Chocodog CD/MVD)

Ween is
back and out with a new five-track release simply called The Friends EP. One of the
more interesting Rock/Alternative bands around, we have previously covered
their solid Shinola: Volume One
album and you can read more about it and them at this link:
http://www.fulvuedrive-in.com/review/4336/Ween+–+Shinola:+Volume+One+(CD)
The
tracks here are all very different, but all enjoyable and include:
1)
Friends
2)
I Got To Put The Hammer Down
3)
King Billy
4)
Light Me Up
5)
Slow Down Boy
For such
a short work, it is more satisfactory than many full length albums we have had
to suffer through lately and shows that this is a band that has neither peaked
nor slowed down. The talent is there and
this will hopefully be the prelude to another full-length release, yet there
are a few songs here that could become hits and it should not be dismissed
easily.
The PCM
2.0 16/44.1 Stereo is as good as their older album and in keeping with the kind
of character they put into their recordings.
A switch to a smaller label has not hurt their sonic senses one bit and
serious fans, as well as music fans, should all be very pleased overall.
