Still
bouncing around in easy projects long after wrapping up his work as a young
Superman, Dean Cain plays a policeman and father in the 2007 TV movie Ace Of Hearts. He has a police dog the whole family loves
and he gets so busy with his job that he (violins please) does not have much
time for his family. It will get worse
when a local robber starts to go nuts.
Unfortunately,
this is a formula melodrama that has a real fake and phony feel throughout,
though some of it is saved by being so odd and unintentionally funny that some
of it has to be seen to be believed.
Unless you really want to see it, skip it, though Reader’s Digest considers it family friendly and we have seen worse.
The 1.33
X 1 image is soft, as expected for such a TV movie, but will be among the last
such telefilms we may ever see this way as TV goes Hi Def and widescreen. It is a flat shoot where event he color is
flat. The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo is
very basic, like the film, but at least you can hear the dialogue. There are no extras.
