Reality
TV is so obnoxious, that even the most benign form is tired at this point. What
Not To Wear – Mom Makeovers is from The Learning Channel, getting in on the
cycle in what they see as a classy way.
We have seen makeovers since the 1960s on talk shows and the like, so
they are nothing new and what is the harm of helping someone? If it is about too much control and exposure
of their private lives, the price may be too high.
It is
hard to tell how far the episodes go in this two DVD set, but it is all sure
repetitious and melodramatic; hardly the most engaging TV around. However, here it is on DVD and if you like it
that much, no you can overdose on it all you like.
The 1.33
X 1 image is late analog professional NTSC video with no surprises and some
digital refinement, while the Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo is the usual good
location recording with music blended in, even when it should not be. The only extra is a “Where Are They Now” piece.
