Mink DeVille – Live At Montreux 1982 (Eagle DVD)
Picture:

Towards
the latter years of Willy DeVille’s band Mink DeVille, when he was fronting the
band without any of its original members left, this later version performed at
Montreux in 1982 and the taped program is now out on DVD from Eagle. It is a good concert, but I actually liked
his solo concert Eagle also issued on DVD a little while ago. You can read more about that concert and
DeVille at this link:

The
tracks here include:
1)
Harlem Nocturne (Instrumental)
2)
Slow Drain
3)
Savoir Faire
4)
Cadillac Walk
5)
She’s So Tough
6)
Mixed Up, Shook Up Girl
7)
Just Your Friends
8)

9)

10) This Must Be The Night
11) Teardrops Must Fall
12) Love Me Like You Did Before
13) Spanish Stroll
14) Lipstick Traces
15) Oyeah
16) Stand By Me
It is a
good set, but there is just something here that just does not have the energy
of the other concert, though it is better than many we have seen recently. Try the first disc above before taking on
this one.
The 1.33
X 1 image was shot on analog videotape, likely NTSC, and shows softness and the
usual errors throughout. The sound has
been upgraded to DTS 5.1, lesser Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2.0 Stereo, but still
shows its age and that the recording did not have multi-channel of any kind in
mind. There are no extras, though a
paper pullout is inside the DVD case with a decent essay.
