Puppy Plays The Classics (DVD)

What do
you get when you pick highly appealing video of puppies and set them to
classical music? A predictable, safe,
amusing and watchable program like Puppy
Plays The Classics (2007) designed to appeal to children and animal lovers
with its own case of the cutes. Though
the choices can seem awkward (the use of Wagner is ‘fascinating’) as well as
interchangeable, it is a fine enough program (running 45 minutes) and is a
decent analog video production.
The
anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is soft throughout, on video maybe a
generation down and sadly has aliasing problems throughout. The PCM 2.0 16/48 Stereo is a nice surprise,
sounding decent and making up for the image issues somewhat, though the
classical music itself can sound a little dated. Extras include puppy care tips, behind the
scenes footage and a bonus Puppy Tale
in 1.33 X 1 video.
