I feel
mixed about a TV show that is like something that we have seen before and yet
tries to be other things and something different. When it is sold as original to adults, it is
a joke, but a show like Ben 10
(about a young boy who gets empowered by extra-terrestrial technology and
becomes a hero) is aimed at younger children and does not seem as bad. It is not that interesting, but we’ve seen
worse.
We looked
at the show through the DVD release of its First Season, as this link will
show:

My fellow
critic was only so impressed and with the show reaching it Third Season,
thought I should see what I thought and if the show had grown any. It is consistent for what it is, has not
improved much and is just a safe-enough action franchise that is more formulaic
than I think the makers are willing to admit.
You get all 13 half-hours on two DVDs and are adequate entertainment at
best. All I could think of is how much
better the original Johnny Quest
was.
The
performance remains the same on this set as the first, but I was less impressed
with both than my fellow critic was with the first set. Extras include promos, alien gallery, deleted
scenes and previews for other Warner DVD animated releases.
