With
almost every TV variation one and played out, Turner/Hanna-Barbera and
now-owner Warner Bros. set about making feature-length animated Scooby Doo adventures, but it has been
a cycle with limits. We originally
looked at Chill Out, Scooby Doo as
our first to cover, though it is more recent and has some more money in it, as
this link will show:

However,
it is a more polished version of the same formula film and though not the
desecration the live-action wrecks were, are for young children at best. Now, Warner is reissuing two of the older
production on one DVD; a flipper featuring older transfers (complete with old
trailers) to Scooby Doo & The Alien
Invaders plus Scooby Doo On Zombie
Island.
The
titles are more than self-explanatory about what is the famous pooch’s new
super wild threat, but these older films have poor color schemes and often
animation that tried to update the show, but backfired by actually looking
older than the original late 1960s debut series.
Both are
here in 1.33 X 1 versions with grain and older transfers that just don’t cut
it, but Warner is getting the final mileage out of these before they do
Blu-rays, as we expect these were rendered on film. The Dolby Digital 2.0 is simple stereo at best
in both cases with no real surrounds.
Extras include old trailers for other releases, these releases and some
very simple text for children to enjoy.
A quiz, game and DVD-ROM weblink are added to the Alien side.
