Chaos

You would
think that a film with Jason Statham, Ryan Phillippe and Wesley Snipes would be
interesting and have much to offer, but Lionsgate lets down its audience and squanders
their seeming exclusive deal with Statham in Tony Giglio’s highly formulaic
heist thriller with no thrills, Chaos.
The shaky
camera syndrome continues, as does the bad editing, all trying to make up for
Giglio’s awful “out of a computer program” screenplay’s lack of original ideas
or just about anything else. I was not
impressed and as I saw people I liked wasted, I kept hoping this would get
better and it did not. Even diehard fans
will have issues, so if you must see it, see it with very low expectations.
The
anamorphically enhanced 2.35 X 1 image is softer than a new film should be,
though I was expecting at least some image degradation from a Statham
film. This will be interesting to see on
Blu-ray but is very disappointing here.
The Dolby Digital 5.1 mix has some good surrounds and is the default
highlight of this release outside of its leads.
The combination is awkward.
Extras include a making of featurette and director commentary track.
