Jerry
Stiller is not funny just because he shows up and The Independent (2007) proves how true that is as he plays a
talentless hanger on making bad movies.
As bad as most of them have been lately, there is nothing funny about
this mess, which comes across as more of an ego trip than anything we would
consider funny. Name cameos are thrown
at us in the first scenes to no avail and Janeane Garofalo is wasted here to.
Avoid
this like the plague!
The
anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is an HD shoot loaded with very poor
Video Black, very poor detail, plenty of motion blur and very poor color. The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo mix has no
surrounds, is harsh, not well edited and dialogue is not recorded well at
all. The useless extras include nudity
reel, Nancy Sinatra clip, two lame featurettes and a lamer audio commentary
guaranteed to cause some brain damage.
