MI–5 – Volume Five (Season Five/BBC DVD)

Though
not many people talk about it, MI-5
(aka Spooks in the U.K.) is a big
hit TV series from the BBC that gets its share of airplay on BBC America and now
sees its Fifth Season arrive on DVD
in the U.S., but I was expecting progress and not a slight slide in the
storyline. Instead of more espionage, we
get the show becoming more of a combination of a police procedural and 24, along with a lame terrorist plot
that is beyond tired no matter who does it.
Our previous coverage is limited to the last/Fourth Season Two set available at this link:

Though I
was not expecting much, these twists and turns were a big mistake. I became less convinced of the show and
though it is likely playing to its audience, I now more than ever wish I had
seen earlier season in their entirety.
Still, these seasons need to stand on their own and this one does
not. Picture and sound are the same as
the last set at least, with extras including a look at the next season,
commentary tracks on the 9th & 10th shows, trailer for
this season and a guide to this season.
At least
it does not look like they cut the budget.
