Schlossberg has a program whose goal is to make one think about not only what
to do with retirement or how to retire, but to make you realize you eventually
will likely do so. Part of the problem
is that we all die and by not dealing with the end of work, for which our
society programs us to do so, people don’t know what to do with
themselves. Be Smart, Retire Happy is a new DVD from WGBH sharing her
philosophy.
I found
the show to be a good one, though it’s ability to deal with death and deal with
one’s time to one’s self may not be as well-rounded as I would have liked it to
be, but it is a decent release that is good help without much pretension. You should still look for a second opinion or
two, but it is a solid special interest volume if you are interested and if you
are close to doing so should give it a serious look. She has humor to share, which is a plus.
The 1.33
X 1 image is a little soft, but was shot on analog NTSC video and looks good
for the old format, but expect aliasing errors at times. The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo is location
audio and is not bad, but nothing great either.
Extras include Men’s Retirement and Baby Boomer Workshops, plus Q&A
with Schlossberg.
