The
special interest/self help DVDs continue to find their place to the market,
with WGBH Boston Video once again delivering with the amusing lecture series The Stress-Buster Collection with Loretta
LaRoche subtitled Laugh Through Life. At times, Miss LaRoche can seem like a stand
up comedienne, but turns out to be a pretext to her more important messages
about not taking life too seriously. The
three tiles includes here are:
The Joy Of Stress – How to Prevent
Hardening of the Attitude.
Humor Your Stress – Jest for the
Fun of It
How Serious Is This?
Some of
the advice is obvious, some is not, though none of it seems too bad and we
could consider this “take serious things less seriously 101” for all intents
and purposes. She undoes bad thinking
and suggests new strategies throughout all three programs, all of which are an
hour, except for the 75 minutes of Serious. If you are interested, you will likely not be
disappointed.
The 1.33
X 1 image on all three discs are taped on analog NTSC video and at least a
generation down with somewhat plugged color and softness throughout. The Dolby Digital 2.0 is location monophonic
sound and is just clear enough to hear.
The same extras of her “Ten
Commandments” to reduce stress are on all three DVDs, while all but Joy adds Eight Steps To Enlightenment and Ten Ways To Be A Human Being… Not Human Doing!
