Tim
VandeStegg’s Fall Into Me (2007) is
a solid, lightly entertaining comedy/drama that could have been so much more if
it had not been so predictable, formulaic, obvious and much of what we have
seen before. Fortunately, lead actors
Ron Menzel and Heidi Fellner are convincing and charming enough to generate
just enough chemistry to make this watchable despite its many flaws.
When they
meet, he lies to her about having an illness he does not have and of course, we
know she is going to find out sooner or later, jeopardizing their
relationship. If only The writers
(including Tim O’Brien, Fellner and VandeStegg) had tried to do something more
inventive, original, realistic and balanced it with the romantic comedy. We’ve seen worse and if you are really,
really interested, you’ll want to give it a look.
The
anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is soft and shot in obvious digital
video, maybe older HD, but it is more watchable than many similar
productions. The Dolby Digital 2.0
Stereo unfortunately is weak and has many problems from the location taping for
a variety of reasons, making some scenes more trying than others to
endure. Extras include stills, DVD-ROM
PDF screenplay, a piece on the animated opening sequences and several text bios
on the cast and crew.
