H.O.T.S.

Barely
qualifying as soft core anything, Gerald Sindell’s H.O.T.S. (1979) is a cheesy silly sex romp about the gals who want
to do it and other who need to discover how hot they can be to follow in their
panties. Designed for drive-ins and
starring some very sexy Playboy Playmates, the film never goes anywhere, though
it has the distinction of being a time capsule of its time and the addition of
a then young Danny Bonaduce in a supposedly shocking appearance before he
became so notorious is an odd plus.
To its
advantage, it mindlessly celebrates the female form. It is R-rated because there is more than
enough nudity here, but not much more.
For some good laughs at what has now become “the good old days” of film
nudity, you can find out what the initials of the title mean, but if you are
really watching, you will care less.
The
anamorphically enhanced 1.85 X 1 image is sadly soft throughout, even beyond
any stylizing intended by the filmmakers.
The Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono is also surprisingly flat, with the
combination screaming second-generation material. The only extra is a trailer.
