Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. – The Complete Third Season (DVD)

After
missing a season, we are back looking again at the hit TV series Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C, which went from
black and white to color by then. For

I always
felt the show got better when it went to color and it lasted as a huge hit by
then, producing its most memorable episodes and actually picking up in the
energy department, which means the humor became funnier and it was not the
deranged pro-military propaganda series some ultra Left-Wing revisionists have
tried to write it off as, which is why it is sad it has not been on TV much in
the last few decades.
Fortunately,
the sound is as good as before, though there are no extras inexplicably and
some music has been changed for whatever reason. However, the color is a big change, is more
consistent than the monochrome from the first set and like Hogan’s Heroes are once again reminded of the money and top rate
cinematography this show received by the producers who knew what they were
doing when TV needed it the most. If
anything, I would recommend you start with this season over the first two just
to see the show in its prime if you have never seen it before. Jim Nabors and Frank Sutton are never going
to get the credit they deserve for their great comic work together, but when
you see them in action, you’ll be impressed.
