Cougar Club – Unrated (Open Sky/Vivendi)

The
latest attempt to cash in on the perceived American
Pie/National Lampoon audience of
mindlessness is a straight-to-DVD disaster by Christopher Duddy called Cougar Club. Unfortunately, the script was clawed up
beyond recognition of any original ideas and the result is a very tired, poor,
lame romp with no romp to it.
Can two
young guys get it on via a phony business with hot older women? Izabella Scorupco, Jon Polito and Loretta
Devine are the few knows among the unknowns who are wasted in this mess. This is far more hype than substance, like
the cat who enlarges its body as a signal to scare predators away. You should act the same way if you come across
the DVD case.
The
anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is soft and uninteresting throughout,
with limited depth and detail. The Dolby
Digital 5.1 sound is very harsh and obnoxious, combining to make for a
substandard presentation. Extras include
women going topless in the menus, bloopers, outtakes, deleted scenes and
trailer.
