Son Of The Dragon (2006/Genius Entertainment)

Picture: C+     Sound: B-     Extras: C     Telefilm: C+

David Wu’s Son Of The Dragon (2006) is a family martial arts comedy with everything we have seen before, but is still long at three hours, David Carradine and John Reardon as men trying to help disadvantaged children and the younger of the two (Reardon) as a fighter and thief whose drifting into a new robbery finds a beautiful princess and some moral choices.  Rupert Graves and Desiree Siahaan also star in this surprisingly good production where money is on the screen.  Though no classic, it is entertaining enough and good for young teens and up.

The anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image has some haziness and even motion blur, typical of current HD TV productions.  The color is consistent and there is some nice production design.  The Dolby Digital 5.1 mix has active surrounds for a TV production, with good dialogue recording.  Extras include an interview and a making of featurette.
