Marianne Faithfull – Dreaming My Dreams (Eagle Vision Classics)

Discovered
by the manager of The Rolling Stones, Marianne Faithfull became an iconic
figure (self-destructive and all) in the British music scene and even had a few
hit records in the many peaks and valleys that almost destroyed her. Marianne
Faithfull – Dreaming My Dreams is a new hour-long documentary examination
of her legend, survival, experiences and comeback in this new DVD release of
the TV broadcast.
Archival
footage, extensive interviews (especially with her) and the revealing of some
very painful personal moments add up to an amazing examination of her career
and life, all the way back up to her comeback hit Broken English in the 1980s, now considered among her very best
work. The program is very good at
capturing it all and if you want to really learn about the singer, this is the
program to try first.
The 1.33
X 1 image is soft at times, but the quality is more often good than bad, while
the Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo is adequate, though PCM would have been
preferred. Stills are the only extras,
but there are not enough.
