See Jane Run (2007/Cinema Epoch)

One of
the most interesting things about the new “torture porn” cycle is that there is
actually a subcycle of it in which the creators claim/think they are recreating
the 1970s in some form or another.
Unfortunately, that always tends to lack suspense, realism, characters
of any interest or originality. Ryan
Webb’s See Jane Run (2007) is the
latest such example, which pretends to start out as a project with a story, then
makes a sudden, stupid shift into watching another (yawn) sick guy torturing
people.
Unfortunately,
you too will feel like you are being tortured with a very, very, very bad,
stupid work that displays a lame sense of dealing with sexuality and is even
embarrassing as it progresses. Did Webb
actually see any of the 1970s films he is trying to imitate? Does he even like film? Hard to tell.
All I know is we should all join Jane and run away from this turkey as
quickly as possible.
The
anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is loaded with motion blur syndrome and
has overexposure errors that look more like taping errors than DVD
trouble. The Dolby Digital 5.1 mix makes
consistent use of the surrounds, as badly recorded as many elements are. The useless extras include text bios,
producer commentary (as the director could not defend this, we guess), outtakes
(remarkably similar to what is left in the flick) and SFX by Paul Magby
featurette which is a guide on how not to do them.
