Maybe
this reviewer just likes Medical shows?
Maybe this reviewer just likes witty bastards? And maybe HOUSE M.D. is just a wonderful series?! Gear up, hold your breath, and pop some
Vicodin because HOUSE M.D. – Season
Three is now on DVD. Dr. Gregory
House (Hugh Laurie) returns to solve some of the toughest medical cases the
Healthcare World has ever seen. Sure his
bedside manner is crap! Sure he hates kids, old people, young people, men,
women … let’s just say he hates everyone (maybe even himself); but he sure is
one hell of a doctor. From killer germs
to killer personalities this is not a season to miss.
This season
goes a bit deeper into the psyche of Dr. House; ranging from his pain killer
addiction to his just overall lack of social skills that get him into more
trouble than he has ever been before.
Season One let the world meet Dr. House.
Season Two let the world see there was much more to Dr House than there
once appeared. Season Three starts to
chip away at the emotionally and physically scarred man that audiences have
been pondering for two previous seasons.
The
technical aspects of this 5 Disc, 17 hour, 30 minutes set are quite
excellent. The picture is presented in a clear and crisp 1.78 X 1
Anamorphic Widescreen, that remains to have brightness issues but with the rest
of the quality being so good, who cares?
The sound is not as impressive but still maintains a strong quality,
presented in an adequate Dolby Digital 5.1 sound that at times is too
light. The music does seem to ‘BOOM’ on
the dramatic moments in the series when the soundtrack kicks into gear.
The extras for this series DVD set are interesting and well presented.
There is a multitude of extras for fans to enjoy in a wide range of areas. An interesting ‘House Soundtrack Session with
Band from TV’ that gives some musical insight, as well as a featurette that
breaks down the episode ‘The Jerk,’ a
look into the HOUSE prop department featurette, an insightful featurette on the
Production Office, a funny Blooper Reel, Commentaries from the writing staff,
and a few more. Overall the extras can
be best described as insightful, plentiful, and Fan-tastic.
Pickup
where Season Two left you hanging
and end up hanging even further off the edge of your seat by the end of Season Three. As this reviewer has always said, Dr. Gregory
House is an impressive character played by an even more impressive actor.
His sarcasm and intelligence penetrate every scene. This is a 24 episode
set of some of the best TV around today, which is sure to thrill and
captivate. Not only do the other actors compliment Hugh Laurie’s already
stunning performance, but bring that extra something to the series that no
other crew of actors could, heart. If you are a fan this is a must have
to watch, again and again. If you are a new comer or never heard of
House, now is the time to jump into the chaotic world and mind of Dr. Gregory
House. This show is the best dose of television around!
