Stackridge – The Forbidden City (Concert)

Picture: C+     Sound: C+     Extras: C-     Episodes: C

Former in the early 1970s, Stackridge was a band that combined folk and pop with touches of the Classical Music-infused Progressive Rock movement of the time.  Still together by April 2007, this concert DVD The Forbidden City has been issued by Angel Air Music (MVD in the U.S.) and they are not bad, but this concert was a bit shaky.

Featuring 25 hits, the nearly 2 hours wore thin quickly and I got the impression that this was not their finest lineup, work or hours.  Fans will like it, maybe, but I would want to start with their early albums like Man In A Bowler Hat.  Maybe they’ll get reissued soon.

The anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 full frame image is not bad, but has hazing and detail limits, though color is on the consistent side for what is probably an HD shoot.  Text band history, Rooftop Interviews, a quiz and previews for other product from Angel Air are the extras.
