Hetty Wainthropp Investigates – The Complete

Patricia Rutledge and Dominic Monahan had a fine chemistry
that made Hetty Wainthropp Investigates a hit. Originally issued as four seasons and one
single DVD pilot on DVD, Acorn Media has once again compiled the entire series
in one of their high class Complete Collection sets with page-like DigiPak
holders in the form of a book. My
feelings about the show began in the review for the pilot and first season set,
as this link reveals:

For the later seasons, I had less to say, but was
intrigued by how the technical quality changed:

Three

Four

The extras never improved, but like other hit shows that
were a bit uneven, having the whole series in one set makes viewing more
pleasant and gives it a better flow than it would have otherwise. Acorn did the best job it could in the
transfers and I prefer this packaging to the previous versions, even if this is
more expensive. It stores the shows more
compactly. Hetty Wainthropp
Investigates is strong from the start, and stays solid just about all the
way. Either try the pilot and first
season, or go for this whole set. Lost/Lord Of The Rings fans who want everything with Monahan should just
get this set outright. The show ended
while on top for the most part and that helps.
