Malicious (1995)

The
cheesy Fatal Attraction/Play Misty For Me wannabe Malicious (1995) from Director Ian
Corson is bad, especially by implying that since they ripped off both films,
they are better than other imitators. The
only thing it really has going for it, since it does not have the guts to go
far in its set-up is Molly Ringwald, whose career was in decline. She gives a really good performance here,
out-acting the whole cast.
Melissa
(Ringwald) successfully seduces Doug (Patrick McGaw) despite the fact that he
has a girlfriend (Sarah Lassez) he has been faithful to for three years. Now, Melissa wants him for keeps and will do
anything she has to to push Laura (Lassez) out of the way. It is bad and amusing, has aged oddly and
Corson ideologically tries to do a film that is the opposite of Kubrick’s The Shining in his further silliness
and pretension. See this one for a gag.
The 1.33
X 1 image was shot on film, but looks terrible, is very soft, has breakup and
colors are awkward throughout. This is
definitely an old analog transfer. The Dolby
Digital 2.0 Mono sound is also a few generations down. There are no extras.
