American Cannibal – The Documentary

Picture: C+     Sound: C     Extras: C-     Film: C

Though it pretends to be a serio-comic piece, the only goal of the Perry Gresin/Michael Nigro mess American Cannibal – The Documentary is to legitimize bad reality TV and most of its founders are interviewed.  Is this a self-critique meant to deflect questioning this type of program?  Who cares!  It is as tired as it is condescending and except for some archival value, a wreck.

The letterboxed 1.78 X 1 image is dull, boring and typical of HD productions today with limited detail and depth.  The Dolby Digital 5.1 mix is stretching it a bit, sounding terrible, is often badly recorded and has no surrounds.  Extras include TV commercials, audio commentary, theatrical trailer, interviews and four dull video shorts.
