Gettin’ It - Unrated

Hollywood
is in a race to repeat the success of The
40-Year-Old Virgin and a lame early entry (no pun intended) is Nick
Gaitatjis’ Gettin’ It – Unrated,
about a teenager (Patrick Censoplano) who is unhappy with his lady situation
until a crazy mistake confuses everyone into thinking he may be a stud in the
making. He is caught with a box of
condoms for the “very large” that belong to someone else. As word gets out, every size queen and a lady
sex maniac is on the lookout for him.
This
could have been funny, but with an idiot plot, pedestrian acting and no heart
or soul to the situation, writer/director Gaitatjis simply is not getting it
about how to do a comedy like this well as it is not about the sex, but the
people. Character development is lame
and while the women are attractive and Censoplano has comic potential, this
fizzles quickly.
The
anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is shot in what looks like older HD
video at best. If the detail were any
worse with detail shimmering, it would be outright obnoxious. The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo is simple and dialogue
is recorded well for the most part, but it offers little else, including no
surrounds. Extras include deleted scenes,
director commentary, trailer and making of featurette that are all also dull.
