Star Trek Fan Collective – Captain’s Log (DVD Set)

Are you Star
Trekked out? If the answer is
yes, we cannot blame you. Paramount/CBS
has issued every season of every show they ever made and at least two versions
of each feature film. However, while
J.J. Abrams tries to revive the franchise with its eleventh feature film (under
the curse of “the odd ones” as Roger Ebert has put it) comes a new DVD set of sorts. Star
Trek Fan Collective – Captain’s Log offers five discs for the five live
action series.
Each has
the favorite of the lead captain, then adds two fan favorites, plus a bunch of
extras that include new intros and mini-featurettes by the actors who played
them, a piece on Kirk’s legacy with William Shatner, the impact of the total
franchise with Avery Brooks, intro to this set by Shatner and closing piece by
Scott Bakula.
This
critic is only a fan of the original show and animated sequel, with the latter
live-action series becoming progressively worse. We have reviewed this material extensively
here on the site and offer the following links to those live action shows so
you can see the picture and sound quality of each show, as the prints used here
are repeats of the original releases.
Those expecting the new classic Trek upgrades can forget it. Those links are:

The
bottom line: this is for the most diehard fans only. All others will likely skip it.
