Even when
done lightly, reality TV just does not do it for me. Trapped
In TV Guide – Season One sets up people into situations that are based on
(and sometimes even similar to) classic TV series and some of their classic
episodes. Each show has two of them and
sometimes, an actual star of the show turns up.
Tracey Gold hosts this mixed series that just falls short for all kinds
of reasons.
You get
12 half-hours in all, but this wears thin quickly, though not as much as the
goofy, brain-damaged theme song that is enough to cause anyone to go batty
after a few shows. It may be worth a
look to big fans of TV, but others should view with caution.
The 1.33
X 1 image was shot in professional NTSC video in the studio, but the undercover
camera footage is poorer as expected and is usually the case for such “ambush”
shows, though this is not as bad as some in ambush or look. The Dolby Digital 2.0 is simple stereo at best
and typical of this cycle. Extras
include bloopers/outtakes and interview snippets with Tracey Gold, Christopher
Knight and Shirley Jones.
