Kyle XY – The Complete First Season - Declassified

Why is
family programming so phony and overly safe these days? I avoided watching Kyle XY because the premise sounded bad and now forced to watch it
for this review, wow is this lame. Ten
hour-long episodes run on and on. It is
like watching The Pretender meets Forrest Gump, leaning far too much
towards Gump and much dumber and
disturbing.
From the
first shot where the title character (Matt Dallas) shows up (and naked) with no
idea who he is, what he is or anything else in the park, the show is off to an
odd start and never finds its way.
Designed for a young adult audience with its TV-14 rating, it is simply
more fluff than challenge for the viewer.
The characters are underdeveloped and the only thing this might become
is an odd cult item. Otherwise, skip it.
The anamorphically
enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is soft and lacks depth, despite some color
consistency. The Dolby Digital 5.1 is
too front heavy for its own good, making the 5.1 upgrade feel like an
afterthought. Extras include an
alternate premiere, extended season finale, audio commentary tracks on some
episodes and a “Declassified” featurette.
