Do It For Uncle Manny (2007)

How
played out are films that think they show the inside of Hollywood? If you somehow are unfortunate enough to see
any minute of actor/writer/director Adam Baratta’s ultimately very silly TV
movie-like Do It For Uncle Manny
(2007) you will see just how bad such a project can go.
Of
course, as I watched (yes, the whole thing!) it seemed they thought what they
were making was funny and the actors make a go at it, but this never adds up to
any world we could ever take seriously enough to believe is Hollywood and some
will watch Robert Altman’s The Player
just to get this out of their heads. I
found it superfluous and quickly forgettable.
The
anamorphically enhanced 1.78 x 1 image is almost a total disaster with awful
depth, detail and is only saved by some consistent color. The Dolby Digital 2.0 sound is sort of
stereophonic, but sonically adequate at best.
Extras include stills, deleted scenes that make no difference and
(remarkably) a feature length audio commentary.
This one almost puts you to sleep.
