Joey
Lauren Adams is known for her brief relationship with Kevin Smith, comic book
guru-turned-filmmaker and always comedian.
Since their split, Miss Adams has disappeared and is now surfacing in a
project that is so anxious to reference the pop culture side of comic books,
writer/director Rafael Riera’s Bunny
Whipped (2007) seems like a bad rip-off of one of Smith’s lesser projects and
feels it.
Bob
Whipple (Esteban Powell) becomes a superhero (of sorts) dubbed The Whip when
the country’s #1 white rapper is murdered.
Instead of moving on with his life, he is out to avenge this legitimate
Vanilla Ice in what is a very unfunny comedy wit6h a bunny farm thrown in. Yes, it has a few moments that are amusing
and even some energy, but that is far from enough to justify 91 minutes of this
not-so-well-thought-out romp.
The 1.33
X 1 is weak color and definition wise, though color is not gutted out. The Dolby Digital 5.1 mix is even worse,
sounding almost mono most of the time and offering little in the way of
surrounds. The compression is a major
issue as well. Extras include deleted
scenes, separate Spanish and English audio commentary tracks and a trailer
gallery including the clip to promote this.
