Holly,
Kendra and Bridget are back, keeping Playboy Magazine’s Hugh Hefner happy in The Girls Next Door – Season Two and that
means yet another 3 DVD set, but you get 16 episodes this time and the show is
surprisingly entertaining into another season.
That honestly is not how most “Reality TV” works, but when it is about
something and persons interesting in a way that is not exploitive or degrading,
a show like this can be interesting in ways that have nothing to do with living
vicariously through the lives of others.
Minus
commercials and with bonus features, this is the best way to watch the
show. With the women who are hanging
around, but that it is uncut is even better.
The ladies are appealing enough that you can see why it is appealing and
ultimately just another side of how great the Playboy Empire really is. It shows the upper crust sexiness that became
legend and when we think of how bad sexuality is being portrayed, it is nice to
see what some might actually think of as old-fashioned. We think it is just one of its healthiest
expressions.
The 1.33
X 1 image is again among the last “reality TV” series to be shot on analog NTSC
professional video, with some slight digititis in this case on these DVDs, but
nothing too awful. The amusing thing
about the Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo is that it is actually available in censored
and uncensored versions, which will make fans of the magazine happy. Extras include promos for the show, amusing
bloopers and a surprising number of deleted/extended scenes. Bet this show will be on for a while.
