Decoys – The Second Seduction

Picture: C+     Sound: C+     Extras: D     Film: D

When I saw the trailer for the first Decoys, I laughed, never saw the final release and quickly forgot about it.  Remarkably, Decoys – The Second Seduction is a sequel that still got made and oh, is it bad!

This very Species-like franchise (already removed at least one original idea away from the Alien franchise, all on this site) involves several sexy young ladies who turn out to be succubus-like alien killers on campuses, parties or anywhere else teens have sex.  Well, they don’t have it for long when they turn up dead.  Too bad the script is dead-on-arrival.

Boasting Tobin Bell from the silly Saw trilogy (see Blu-rays on this site) does not save this from being a dud and I cannot imagine the first effort being good enough top justify this mess.  The acting is bad, dialogue beyond idiotic and visual effects so bad that Nintendo 64 looks state of the art.

The anamorphically enhanced 1.85 X 1 (this got a theatrical release?) image is poor, has Video Black issues and limited detail.  John Spooner, C.S.C., gives this the same tired Canadian Horror Genre look X-Files originated and played out halfway through its run.  Yawn.  The Dolby Digital 5.1 is not that well recorded, dialogue is usually clear, but the surrounds are very lacking.  There are no extras, which is also no surprise.
