F**K – A Documentary

Picture: C+     Sound: C+     Extras: C     Documentary: C+

Steve Anderson’s 2005 F**K – A Documentary is so amused with itself that its smugness kills any serious consideration of its title subject.  It essentially interviews anyone and everyone it can about the subject, but when the answers are trite and often useless, the situation is made worse by the interview subjects often being persons we have seen and hear far too often from to begin with.

The result is an unamusing mess with more know-it-alls who know nothing than any documentary in history!  Besides only caring to hear form a minority of the guests, the 90 minutes quickly wears thin, often with inaccurate information and this never really works.  If the idea was to be funny, they are a quarter-century too late.  At least Bill Plympton did some animation here, but this is a curio at best with little rewatchability.

The anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is a little soft and consists mostly of endless interview footage of no particular quality, except that it is talking head overdrive.  The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo is good for such a program, but again, nothing spectacular.  Extras include extended interviews (Geez!), extended & deleted scenes, trailers, specific Bill Plympton interview, F**K Counter and audio commentary with director Anderson.
