Bit Parts
(Horror)

In a sea
of very bad Horror films, writer/director Dave Reda’s Bit Parts is one of the worst of the lot we have seen in a
while. It is stupid, goofy, exploitive
in self-serving ways that show desperation on Reda’s part and offer every tired
cliché as a young woman is kidnapped by a plastic surgeon and his sick
daughter. It is amazing how bad this is
and so many miles away from Texas Chain
Saw Massacre or an original idea that that
is the only horror here.
This
looks like it was shot on an old Betamax in its sloppy editing and annoying
picture, bad acting, bad music and everything else bad that shows how overdone
this genre has been and by opportunists and/or complete idiots who only think
it is only about schlock. It lives up to
its name in the worst way and is to be actively avoided.
The
anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is soft and not very colorful, with
limited detail and shot on video of no particular note. That makes watching all the more
difficult. The Dolby Digital 5.1 mix
shows the limited fidelity of the original recordings and stretches out what is
simple stereo at best. Extras include an
NBC interview on the release, the original trailer and director’s commentary,
all of which amount to as little as the feature.
