With so
many arts and crafts TV shows and chain stores alone, without even thinking of
Martha Stewart, the business of self-expression in a personal way has blossomed
more than anyone could have ever expected.
A new rising star in the field apparently is Sandra Magsamen, who gives
feel-good lectures with the ideas of why you do not need to let intellectual
property ownership prevent (or is that intimidate) you from
self-expression. Acorn Media’s Acacia
label has issued Living Artfully, a
DVD offering her basic philosophy and approach to all.
The 77
minutes become as much about the inner self as anything to do with what you
could buy at Michael’s. This may not be
for everybody, but it is admittedly an alternative to the usual craft
show. Is this too warm and fuzzy? Maybe, but she is consistent and is giving
good advice. The interested should give
it a look.
WARNING: The DVD has very loud menu music, unusually
so that you will have to turn up the volume to watch the programming and down
when going back to the menus. The Dolby
Digital 2.0 Stereo is simple, has no surrounds and is not as loud. The 1.33 X 1 image was shot on analog NTSC
video and is colorful enough, but with the usual limits. Extras include five more craft ideas, a bio
on your host and never-before broadcast stories.
