American Pie Presents: The Naked Mile (Unrated)

It seems
that the American Pie films are soon
to go the way of the National Lampoon
film series, pumping out sequel after sequel.
Personally this reviewer found the original three American Pie films entertaining, thinking that American Wedding was a nice cap to the horny teen comedy
series. With profits on the first three
films high the series was sure to continue, as seen with the straight to DVD
release American Pie Presents: Band Camp
(Unrated) reviewed elsewhere on this site.
The film American Pie Presents:
The Naked Mile (Unrated) follows the brother of Steven Stifler of the first
three films on a not so epic journey to lose his virginity.
The brother
(Erik Stifler) does not want to leave High School a virgin and in a horn-ball
attempt to get some action decides to run ‘The Naked Mile’ after some advice
from Jim’s Dad (Eugene Levy). Eugene
Levy remains as the last original cast member in this dying film series, and
where he does maintain his unique brand of humor, the act is getting old. Overall, this film has its moments of gross
outs, nudity, and chuckles; in the end only
surmounting to recycled Porky’s
humor that got old long ago.
The
technicals of the straight to DVD film are quite good. The picture is presented in a clear 1.85 X 1
Anamorphic Widescreen that remains bright and balanced throughout. The sound is also above most straight to DVD
releases using a Dolby Digital 5.1 mix, that is clear though has its
off-balance moments. The extras are
nothing to tell your naked girlfriend about but are entertaining to a
degree. Extras include some deleted and
extra scenes that neither would have lent or detracted from the somewhat tired
film, Outtakes that are funny after viewing the cast for an hour and 42
minutes, and a somewhat humorous and interesting featurette on how the little
people stunts of the film were undertaken (that’s right folks there are little
people sequences in this film).
If you
are a horny High School kid, or you and your friends want to sit around and
toss back a few and have a good time with no true, high expectations than American Pie Presents: The Naked Mile (Unrated)
may suit you just fine. As far as a
film series goes this pie is more than overdone, it is burnt and thrown in our
faces.
