The Air
Bud producers are at it again with more kids and cute animals. It seems the main goal of Robert Vince’s
Chestnut is to get the audience to say “aaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwww” all the time
with the cute dog and little girls who love him. Not that there is much of a script, but this
is a mostly harmless project for young children to enjoy.
The new
attraction for this DVD release is that co-lean Abigail Breslin is now the star
of the well-reviewed (and overrated, see our reviews elsewhere on this site) Little Miss Sunshine, a young actress
with some appeal. Well, this film as far
as I was concerned was about as good, though that does not say much. However, this is not as pretentious, forced
or strained and I oddly was not as disappointed when it was all over.
The 1.33
x 1 image I softer and less focused than expected, looking like a tunnel vision
version of a wider image. The Dolby
Digital 5.1 mix is as little better, but still is limited with few surrounds
and an uninspired mix that sounds more like the Dolby 2.0 spread thin. There are no extras.
