Thou Shalt Laugh (Comedy concert)
Picture: B- Sound: C+ Extras: C Concert: C
The
comedy concert has become its own cycle.
In a new twist, Thou Shalt Laugh
offers Christian comics telling jokes and though you don’t have to be Christian
to enjoy them and can appreciate a clean comedy act, the jokes in his case just
happen to be more miss than hit. Hosted
by the never-funny Patricia Heaton, the comics that appear include Thor Ramsey,
Michael Jr., Jeff Allen, Teresa Roberts Logan, Joby Saad, Gilbert Esquivel and
Taylor Mason.
None of
them are bad, just not always great. I
can say that all of them are ambitious and off to decent starts. I would like to see their work within a year
or two to see who their individual acts change.
There is room for a much needed comeback of comedy without its mind in
the gutter. At least they tried.
The 1.78
X 1 image does look a little better than expected, though there is not much of
a challenge keeping up with a comedian isolated on a stage, yet we have seen
such things botched before. The Dolby
Digital 2.0 Stereo has no surrounds and is just fine to hear the jokes. Extras include a behind the scenes piece, outtakes
and The Private Lives of Taylor's Puppets.
