The Fast & The Furious – Tokyo Drift

This is
the third review of the films I have done in The Fast & The Furious series, but not one for each. Having just looked at the HD-DVD/DVD Combo
format version of this film, you’d think the disc would be the same as the DVD
side of that version, but this is not always the case.
Though we
have seen a worst discrepancy between two such versions, as in Land Of The Dead, the DVD only version looks
slightly more washed out than the DVD side of its combo counterpart. It is not enough to lower the picture rating
but, close enough to note and criticize.
Why? Who knows, but the DVD is
being mass produced in a way the Combo version is not and cannot be, so that is
likely the case. Both offer anamorphically
enhanced 2.35 X 1 images from the same transfer, both the same mastering. Not the same results in picture, however, so
you might want the Combo version for that reason despite costing a bit more.
As for
the Dolby Digital 5.1 mix, it is as good as the DVD side of the Combo disc, so
that is not as much of a problem. To

Drift and the rest of the series to date, you can go to the HD-DVD review
