One of
the stranger, odder female Jazz vocal releases recently has been Roberta
Donnay’s What’s Your Story? The 2006 release does not seem to know if it
is happy, angry or maybe even petulant, but it has the amazing ability to get
on one’s nerves and with covers like What’s
Your Story, Morning Glory?, No
Regrets, Put It Where You Want It
and the appropriate to this set Johnny Mercer tune Drinkin’ Again.
This one
did not turn me into an alcoholic, but only drinking music has more blues,
anger and hopeless ness to it. What was
she thinking?
The PCM
2.0 16bit/44.1kHz Stereo is also an issue, simply not as well recorded as other
recent Jazz vocal releases and escalates the troubles. That is the end of my story. Skip this one.
