Deck Dogz

The
skateboarding cycle of films continues with Steve Pasvolsky’s Deck Dogz, but the twist with this
narrative film is that it takes place in Australia.
That change of locale has many interesting possibilities, but
unfortunately, Pasvolsky’s script makes this story about three young male
skaters try more to emulate bad U.S. productions. Can they get to a competition far from where
they live? Can they win? Is there a cliché Pasvolsky forgot? They did manage to get Tony Hawk for a cameo
of sorts, but this is everything we have seen before and even at 86 minutes,
this seems much longer.
The
anamorphically enhanced 1.85 X 1 image is detail-challenged and is not the best
definition or color-wise to begin with.
Stylized graphics are also of a purposely degraded nature, so do not
expect much visually. The Dolby Digital
5.1 mix is on the weak side, with limited surrounds, showing the low-budget
nature of the production and not much better than stereo and mono narrative and
non-narrative works on the subject we have already covered. Extras include seven featurettes, alternate
ending and a deleted scene with Hawk.
For diehard fans only, if that.
