Dr. Quinn, Medicine
Woman – The Movies (2 Telefilms)

Jane Seymour has been one of the most successful Bond
women ever. After her 1973 debut stint
as Solitaire in Guy Hamilton’s Live & Let Die, she just got better
and better in the projects she did.
Many people laugh at her work in Dr. Quinn, but it was still
quality enough to spawn a big hit TV show and the two telefilms on this single
DVD from A&E. We never got to cover
the series, but here are the films that were made after the series suddenly
folded.
The series was doing well when after several seasons; CBS
pulled the plug without telling anyone and send them all home. Seymour was very unhappy they did not get to
say goodbye or even do an farewell party, but these two films were personal
vindication and simply wrap up the obvious.
Quinn and her husband face a few more adventures, as they grow
older. Great for fans, but likely a
bore for the rest of us, so only get this one if you really liked the
show. The first film is simply The
Movie, while the concluding telefilm is The Heart Within.
The 1.33 X 1 image on both films is very soft, though
oddly, the second film starts out letterboxed 1.78 X 1, so is some of the
softness from downtrading from an HD source?
The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo has no surrounds, but is still the
highlight of the disc. Extras include a
quiz, stills and text cast biographies.
