Diane Schuur – Live In
London (CD)

We have had several concerts from London’s famous Ronnie
Scott’s, so why Diane Schuur’s new CD does not take advantage of where she
played in her title is odd.
Nevertheless, Diane Schuur – Live In London is a good CD
featuring good performances like I’ll Close My Eyes, Don’t Let Me Be
Lonely Tonight, Besame Mucho, The Very Thought Of You and It
Don’t Mean A Thing. The 14 tracks
end here with a cover of Over The Rainbow that is frankly a mistake, but
Miss Schuur makes most of the songs her own for the most part and fans of her
and Jazz Vocal Piano music should be happy.
The 16bit/44.1kHz 2.0 Stereo is not bad, though it is hard
to tell if some of the limits are the recording or this format, but it should
sound a little better than it does.
Three producers, two of whom did the mixing, only know for sure. Otherwise, the CD plays fine.
