Lou Reed - Live At Montreux 2000
Picture: C+

Lou Reed is one of the most important music artists of the
latter half of the 20th Century and he has never sold out or
compromised his voice or art. That is
all too rare, but his Live At Montreux 2000 concert once again shows the
great thinker in action with another ace band backing him and offering many of
his thoughts and ideas uncompromisingly.
Instead of playing Walk On The Wild Side to death, though it is
one of the all-time brilliant records, Reed offers some other great material
that does not get enough attention:
1) Paranoia
Key Of E
2) Turn To
Me
3) Modern
Dance
4) Ecstasy
5) Smalltown
6) Future
Farmers Of America
7) Turning
Time Around
8) Romeo
Had Juliet
9) Riptide
10) Rock Minuet
11) Mystic Child
12) Tatters
13) Set The Twilight Reeling
14) Dirty Blvd.
15) Dime Store Mystery
16) Perfect Day
Here is a man who understands irony. He is sly about how he pulls the audience
in, in part because he knows they are smart enough to be there and to listen to
what he has to say and he never disappoints.
This concert runs just over two hours and there is never a wasted
moment, something you can only say about a handful of music artists and
performers. That also makes it yet
another strong Montreux release from Eagle Eye music fans will not want
to miss.
The 1.33 X 1 image is a little soft, but I liked both the
colors and stage set-up just the same.
Sound options includes PCM 2.0 16bit/48kHz Stereo and Dolby Digital 5.1
sound mixes are included, the DTS 5.1 mix the best of the three and offers some
of the best fidelity of any prerecorded Lou Reed material to date. There are no extras.
