Take Me (2001/Thriller Mini-Series)

Picture: C+     Sound: C+     Extras: D     Episodes: C-

Robeson Green is a good actor, but gets wasted beyond his control in the awfully disappointing would-be Sex Mystery Thriller Take Me, a shockingly bad 2001 exercise in futility from writer Caleb Ranson and director Alex Pillai.  A couple is out to save their rocky marriage, only to be caught in a “web” of deceit and plot twist.  Unfortunately, the sex is juvenile and 300 minutes (!!!) far more about bad and often clichéd twists than people or plot.

I kept watching, hoping this might pick up, but I instead had to keep picking myself up from falling asleep.  The neighborhood is never sinister, the people are all boring and might as well all be in on something bad since they obviously have nothing better to do with their lives.  Skip this one, or you might set a yawning record.

The 1.78 X 1 image was shot in digital High Definition and is both soft and color poor throughout, with forgettable form and tired editing.  The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo has surprisingly weak surrounds and boring music to boot.  There are no extras and that’s good, because enough is enough.
