The Ron White Show – Blue Collar Guy

Ron White is trying to become the next big comic, with his
“white trash” jokes maybe a bit dirtier than other “redneck” comics, but it is
seems as gaudy as Las Vegas itself in The Ron White Show – Blue Collar Guy,
a mere 22-mintues-long program on a very basic DVD. Though I could see some of the humor in the show, even a surprise
opening appearance by Rip Taylor (confetti and all) did not get the show off to
a great start.
Strangest of all, Mr. White felt more like Willard Whyte,
the comically eccentric rich character singer/entertainer/entrepreneur Jimm
Dean played in the James Bond film Diamonds Are Forever, the 1971 hit
that takes place in Vegas where the Whyte character (much like Howard Hughes)
resided. When all was said and done, I
wanted to see the Bond film again instead.
It has more laughs, after all.
The 1.33 X 1 image was shot on professional analog NTSC
video, which as aged fairly well. There
is nothing special about the way this is shot, the color or definition. The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo is simple at
best with no surrounds. There are no
extras per se, but a half-dozen interesting Sony DVD trailers for other comedy
product are included in a previews section you might want to see.
